Cask-Conditioned Enlightenment
A cask-conditioned beer, often referred to as 'real ale'
is brewed from only traditional ingredients and allowed
to mature naturally. The unfiltered, unpasteurised beer
still contains live yeast, which continues conditioning
the beer in the cask. This process creates a gentle, natural
CO2 carbonation and allows malt and hop flavors to develop,
resulting in a richer tasting beer with more character
than standard keg beer. 'Real ale' is always served without
any extraneous gas. This is the traditional way of brewing
and serving beer; only a few decades ago did filtered,
pasteurized, chilled beer served by gas become normal.

The
Big Lizard Band
(MEAN JOE TURNER IS BACK!)
True to the tradition of
change, the Big Lizard Boys have morphed into
the Big Lizard Band. The trio has become a five-some.
For almost seven years, your hardy band of adventurers
(Aspinwall, Crippen & Darnell) have plucked,
strummed, frailed, hammered, pulled and slid all
of the fretted terrain from handmade, homegrown
songs to traditional and cover tunes, blending
blues, folk, rock, americana, history and gospel
into their own version of soul grass.
And now, with the addition
of vocalist Lisa Canida and bassist Tony Ryan,
the Big Lizard Band is venturing into new musical
territories, while keeping the best of their ancient
rituals. Acoustic, amplified, supersonic and French-fried,
the Big Lizard Band is ready to take you for a
ride - so grab your hats, MEAN JOE TURNER IS BACK!
(
and if you don't know what that means,
you need to find out
).
Clyde Sayre will present
the opening set.

The
Moe Hansum Band

This 4-member band,
hailing from Houston, Texas, performs Americana
music with a strong emphasis on traditional acoustic
blues. Their Texas-bred music
|
|
|
blends folk blues with a splash
of the soul and rhythm of the Mississippi Delta blues.
In concert the band presents a variety of their original
tunes, complemented by little-known covers from artists
such as Bukka White, Robert Johnson and Jimmy Reed. The
Moe Hansum Band has been together in many incarnations
since the early 1990's.
The instrumentation currently consists of two acoustic
and resonator guitarists, Mike Durbin and Chuck
Schwarz, upright acoustic bassist Sandy Buller and
drummer Stephan B. Miller. They have performed at
the Kerrville Folk Festival and many other locations
across Texas. This band of exceptionally talented
musicians is always a JP Hops House favorite. Moe's
music can be healing and therapeutic for those longing
for an authentic voice in traditional and modern
folk blues.

Come out tonight to meet up
and coming political hopeful Dave Bannen. Dave is
running to represent the Texas 9th Congressional
District.
| |
Hello
Friends and Neighbors, Im Dave Bannen.
Im probably
a lot like you; I get up and go to work every
week. I pay my taxes, and I love my country.
If youre like me, youre not only
concerned, youre in shock at the direction
Washington DC is taking our country.
Ive had enough.
Instead of complaining about Washington DC,
Ive decided roll up my sleeves and work
to fix the problem. Im not political,
and never thought Id have to get involved
in politics. The irresponsible actions of
this Congress are pushing us all further and
further into debt. This is not how either
of us manage our household budgets, and its
not how we expect competent leaders in congress
to manage the tax dollars we work so hard
for.
|
Hear more about Dave's values
and principles directly from the candidate.

George
Ensle &
Ken
Gaines
George Ensle, (pronounced
Enslee), began songwriting and performing as
a teenager in the late sixties in his hometown,
Houston at such venerable clubs as the Sand
Mountain Coffeehouse and the original Old Quarter,
sharing stages with legendary folk greats, Townes
Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and Jerry Jeff Walker.
While touring the club, college coffeehouse
and festival circuit, he was awarded a prestigious
Federal Government Grant to be an Artist-In-Schools,
teaching songwriting and the creative process
to elementary schoolchildren. George has wonsongwriting
awards from The American Song Festival, the
Kerrville Folk Festival, the Music Umbrella,
and the Austin Songwriters Group, and has released
five albums in the U.S. and Europe. In 2008
he was nominated for Singer/Songwriter of the
Year by the Texas Music Academy.
|
|
George has a unique fingerpicking
style originating from his classical guitar training
and honed over the years to flow seamlessly with
his lyrics. He has been called a "songpainter,"
capturing "lifescapes", with storysong
portraits of "real people making it in the
real world."
Ken Gaines
has "a beautifully clear voice and articulate
guitar accompaniment." His lyrics are both
powerful and poetic and highlight his skills as
a story teller and observer of life. Ken's latest
CD, Catfish Moon, recorded at Songdog
Records and co-produced by Bill Ward, has been
selling like hotcakes. He was the recipient in
2005 for the Texas Music Awards - Singer/Songwriter
of the Year and the My Texan Award. He's a proud
member of MyTexasMusic.com.
